Miss Britt Update!

Hey all just thought I would give you all an update! If you have a weak stomach don't look at the x-rays I attached or even read this post!! LOL
Things didn't quite go as well as we initially thought they would but all ended well so YAAAY for small victories! We arrived at the hospital at about 10 minutes to 7 and they got her all prepped and then we just had to wait for the doctor to arrive. He got there a little after 8 and they took her back and started surgery. At first, we were told they were going to manually manipulate her finger back into position without opening it up and then place pins into the bones (which would then later be removed) to hold them into place until it healed and it would only be about a half an hour until she was done. They said it looked really good and they thought all was well until the doctor flexed her finger up towards her hand. When he did that instead of rotating in with the rest of the fingers the pinkie was still rotating outwards. So, at the 20 minute mark the PA, (who was AWESOME BTW and it turns out Matt used to date his sister and he was also in wrestling with him), came out to tell us that they were going to have to open the finger up and set it that way and then put the pins into the finger from there in order to get it rotated into the correct position. After attempting to do that for an additional half and hour, they couldn't get the pins to stay in place and the bones kept rotating out of position so they decided the best option was going to be to put screws into the bone all along the fracture to hold it in place. She will have them in her hand the rest of her life which kinda stinks but what can you do? hehe We were finally able to leave the hospital just a little after 11 a.m. and she has been doing AWESOME! She is so amazing and tougher than tough! She came out of the anesthesia really well (no thrashing, screaming or fighting) and her finger is still numb for the most part with only mild pain (or so she says, I have a feeling it may be worse than what she says but she isn't one to complain). Anywho, in about 2 weeks she will be able to have the stitches removed and in about 3 months it should be healed completely! :) Thank you Teresa and Allen for coming and babysitting my two youngest boys!! You are life savers!! Thanks VERY much to everyone for all your well wishes and prayers!! You guys are so amazing and wonderful! I feel silly for having been as stressed as I have been about all this (after all it's just a pinkie finger hehe) but my excuse is I am a mom and can't help it! LOL Anywho, here are the pics and xray's!! Thanks again to all!! :) Cross your fingers that this is the end of bad stuff for us this year!! LOL
